Fridge Fans

The three way Fridges fitted to caravans are not as reliable as the domestic types that we have in our kitchens at home these are compressor fridges and only operate on the mains electricity, where as the three way fridges fitted in caravans and motor homes are called absorption fridges, chemicals are circulated by the application of heat rather than by a compressor pump. On this type of fridge it will only operate on 12volt DC when the caravan is being towed. When on site you have the choice of gas or 230 volt AC.

On the whole these fridges work quite well at average English summer ambient temperatures, but anything above the norm in particular above 25ºC that we frequently find when we are in France, the fridge will struggle to maintain a low temperature, here is where the addition of fans fixed at the top vent of the caravan fridge will help to remove the build up of hot air at the back of the fridge where by introducing a flow of air over the cooling fins.
I brought the Vento Fridge Fans in July 2014 for about £38.00 and £8.00 package and posting from Pioneer Leisure. I do believe that it has helped with the operation of the fridge, but it probably needs a like for like test over a few days at home recording the ambient temperature and the fridge temperature with and without the fans in place.
